Fine for Residency Law violators in UAE

A raid on a shopping mall resulted in the arrest of 119 violators of the residency law who were working there for daily wages.
Lieutenant Colonel Khalaf Ahmad Al Ghaith, Deputy Director for Investigation and Violators Follow Up at the Dubai Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department, said a tip was received about a group of women who were staying in the UAE illegally and working in a mall.
After investigation, a trap was set for these women and they were all arrested upon their arrival at the mall.
Lt Col Al Gaith urged members of the public to cooperate with the department and inform it about illegal practices.
Lt Col Al Gaith added that members of the public could call the department toll free on 800 5111 to report any violations.
"The identities of the people who cooperate with us and inform about illegal residents will be kept confidential," Lt Col Al Ghaith told Gulf News.
Fine
"Those who shelter or employ an infiltrator will be slapped with a Dh100,000 fine and a minimum of two months in prison, while residents who hire an illegal employee or let the people sponsored by them work for others will face punishment and a fine of Dh50,000," he said.
Employing an illegal worker is dangerous, as it could attract crime, threaten the safety of the UAE and pose a health threat, he said.
"Such people could also spread diseases as most of them absconded from their sponsors before even have their residency stamped on their passport and before they went for a medical check," he said.
The department's inspection campaigns are carried out all days of the week and at all times to ensure that the foreigners entry and residency law is implemented, Lt Col Al Ghaith said, adding that the concerned teams will arrest violators, who will be deported after serving their sentences.
