US President Barack Obama Thursday lamented the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar over the United States.
"I think it was the wrong decision," Obama told reporters.
The Qataris beat bids by the United States, Japan, South Korea and Australia to win the coveted host role. The tiny Gulf country has never qualified to play in the world's biggest tournament.
Also Thursday, Russia won its bid to host in 2018.
